Mahler’s symphony “Titan” is, like Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 1, a youth play that the Bohemian composer wrote during his unhappy love story with Johanna Richter. Rooted firmly in the spirit of German romanticism, the score echoes calls to nature, from pastoral serenity to longing and despair.
